Introducing the TaylorMade Match Play Series! The 2022 Season will consist of 6 Match Play Events that are precursors to BJGT’s annual Buckeye Cup at the end of the season at Oglebay Resort! BJGT Members from ALL Ages & Divisions are eligible to play in as many of the 4 Qualifiers Matches as they’d like.  We will do our best to pair according to age and skill and recommend bringing a friend!

These events are divided into two formats:

Singles Match Play

is a form of play where a player plays directly against an opponent in a head-to-head match. You win a hole by completing it in the fewest number of strokes, and you win a match when you are winning by more holes than remain to be played.

Singles Match Play Qualifier Format and Rules

A Random Drawing will be held for Matches. You will play 1 Match in Round 1 and another in Round 2.

BJGT will select Qualifiers from this event to play in the BJGT Singles Match Play Championship on August 6th-7th.

Tiebreakers for Qualifiers
1) Has a BJGT Membership
2) Points in POY Standings
3) BJGT Events Attended
4) Higher JGS Ranking

Foursomes

(“Alternate Shot”) is a form of play where two partners compete as a side by playing one ball in alternating order on each hole.

Fourball

A form of play involving partners where each partner plays his/her own ball and the team’s score is the lower of the two partners scores.

Foursomes/Fourball Qualifier Format and Rules

You may select your own partners for this tournament. Both partners must email [email protected] confirming the partnership. You may still register as an individual and get paired with a random partner.

A Random Drawing will be held for Matches. You will play Fourball (Each Partner plays their own ball and you count the lowest score between you and your partner) in Round 1 and Foursomes (Alternate Shot) in Round 2.

BJGT will select Qualifiers from this event to play in the BJGT Foursomes/Fourball Championship on August 20th-21st at Kingsmill Resort (Plantation Course).

The Buckeye Cup is similar to the Ryder Cup and is the finale of the Season. Players from the 4 Regions (West PA, East PA, Maryland, Virginia/Wildcard) will team up to compete against the other regions in Singles & Fourball/Foursome Matches, friendly competition at its best!

HOW WILL MY REGIONS TEAMS BE FORMED FOR THE BUCKEYE CUP?

Each region will be made up of 12-person teams for a Total of 48 Players. 24 of these players will come from the TaylorMade Match Play Series Qualifying Events and the other 24 will get invites based on BJGT Player of the Year Point Standings.
